Our Mission

Raising Awareness of the Lingering Effects of Agent Orange

In the heart of Cherry Hill Village is a unique resource for veterans returning home from active duty who may need housing and a supportive environment. The Village Arts Factory and Veterans’ Dormitory not only provides a temporarily residence for four to six men, but also serves as a gateway to mental health professionals, veterans service officers, attorneys, social workers, and other resources to assist in the post-military transition. The Veterans’ Dormitory relies on sponsors and donations to continue providing these services.

Our mission is to raise funds for ongoing renovations, repairs, and living expenses to support our resident veterans in need. We are hosting a 5K walk/run that aims to honor those who have served our country and recognize the ongoing personal battles that often persist after soldiers return home. In particular, we are raising awareness of the lingering effects of Agent Orange and the many lives it has impacted.

Agent Orange was a harmful herbicide used during the Vietnam War to defoliate battlegrounds and thus deprive the enemy of ground cover to hide in. The toxic and deadly chemicals left many soldiers who returned home from Vietnam with serious health issues including cancer, heart disease, and other life-threatening illnesses. The effects of Agent Orange have left a lasting impact on veterans and their families.

This will be the inaugural Agent Orange Awareness 5K event with the hope that it makes a positive difference in our community. The 5K is being hosted in August, which correlates with Agent Orange Awareness Day. All funds raised from this event will go toward the continued operation of the Veterans’ Dormitory on the Village Arts Campus in Cherry Hill Village.
