Art Gallery Opening Reception: The Art That Speaks to the Soul

July 10 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Free

The Village Arts Factory is excited to introduce a new exhibition this July that highlights the traditions and beauty of Islamic Art. Featuring the work of local artist Farida Mujtaba, “The Art That Speaks to the Soul” is sure to inspire and nurture both heart and spirit.

Join us for the Opening Reception on Friday, July 10 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Village Arts Factory. Enjoy refreshments, meet the artist, and view “The Art That Speaks to the Soul” in person, an exhibition celebrating an artistic legacy that continues to inspire wonder, devotion, and peace.

Inspired by the intricate beauty of Islamic architectural monuments and design traditions, Farida Mujtaba’s exhibit “The Art That Speaks to the Soul” invites viewers to pause, reflect, and connect with the beauty, serenity, and spiritual elegance that have long defined Islamic art.  Although rooted in these traditional forms, the compositions are often slightly abstract, allowing structure and ornamentation to merge with a more expressive and interpretive visual language. At the heart of Mujtaba’s work lies Arabic calligraphy, featuring sacred verses from the Holy Qur’an, traditional Islamic greetings, and everyday expressions such as Alhamdulillah, Mashallah, and Subhanallah—words that carry profound spiritual and emotional meaning.

Mujtaba strives to create art that speaks to the soul. Working primarily with acrylic paint and gold leaf on canvas and wood, the pieces are intended to invite reflection, remembrance of God (dhikr), and appreciation of the breathtaking beauty of Islamic art. Through each brushstroke, she aims to echo the spiritual elegance of this tradition—art that not only pleases the eye, but also nurtures the heart and spirit.
