DESCRIPTION:This December\, the Village Arts Factory is proud to present two inspiring concurrent exhibitions that celebrate the beauty of the natural world\, the stories of place\, and the unique artistic voices within our community. Join us for a special evening reception on December 12 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM to meet the artists\, explore their work\, and experience the richness of creativity that fills our gallery this season. \nIn “Animals of the Land\, Sea\, and Sky”\, Michigan artist Nick Bair explores the vast diversity of the animal kingdom—from the sweeping savannahs and icy arctic tundra to dense jungles\, soaring skies\, and deep ocean habitats. Created primarily within the last year\, his pieces reflect a lifelong passion for animals and their conservation. \nWorking across a wide range of media\, including ink\, watercolor\, acrylic\, charcoal\, pan pastel\, colored pencil\, digital art\, and clay\, Nick selects each medium intentionally to capture the texture\, expression\, and presence of the species he portrays. His work often carries a narrative quality\, inviting viewers to connect emotionally with the animals he depicts. \nNick is an artist with autism whose perspective brings a distinctive and powerful voice to his work. A world traveler and frequent visitor of zoos and museums\, he draws inspiration from firsthand encounters and global exploration. His art has been exhibited across Michigan\, and he is known locally for contributing his talents to organizations supporting individuals with special needs. \nIn “Where the Light Lingers”\, photographer Kelsey Doletzky invites viewers into the quiet\, glowing moments that shape Michigan’s northern landscape\, capturing the soft light\, familiar textures\, and fleeting beauty that define the region’s spirit. \nRaised in Michigan and deeply rooted in the traditions of heading “up north\,” Kelsey’s work reflects a deep sense of place and nostalgia: the golden hush of sunset through pine trees\, the calm of lakeside mornings\, and the stillness just before dusk. Her photography emphasizes not just what a scene looks like\, but how it feels—warm\, peaceful\, timeless. \nNow based in Metro Detroit\, Kelsey continues to travel north as often as she can\, finding inspiration and restoration in Michigan’s natural light and landscapes. Her exhibition brings together images that honor those in-between moments where memory and emotion meet.

DESCRIPTION:Bring the whole family and celebrate the season at Christmas in the Village\, Canton’s cozy holiday market and community celebration at the Village Arts Factory. Join us on Saturday\, December 6\, from 3:00 to 7:30 PM as the Factory and surrounding Village come alive with holiday magic. Local artisans and makers will showcase handcrafted gifts\, ornaments\, and décor — perfect for finding one-of-a-kind presents. \nWarm up with hot cocoa\, cider\, and delicious bites from local food trucks while carolers and musicians fill the halls with festive cheer. Kids will love decorating cookies\, making crafts at Cold Stone Creamery\, and visiting the live petting zoo. For extra sparkle\, Indigo Salon\, Spa\, & Boutique will be offering free hair tinsel for kids\, while Maraschinos Pub hosts a holiday pop-up bar featuring a pizza buffet\, seasonal drinks\, and special visits from Anna and Elsa from Frozen. \nIKEA returns this year with their popular Uppvärming Lodge\, serving cinnamon rolls\, cookies\, and traditional Swedish glögg — a cozy taste of the season for the whole family. \nOur friends at Greenland Market & Saj Bakery will also be joining the fun\, hosting a kids’ snowman station\, visits with Olaf\, and a holiday scavenger hunt throughout the event — the perfect way for little ones to explore and celebrate! \nSanta Claus will be on hand for photos — sittings are free\, but timed entry tickets are required and available first come\, first served. Photos with Santa are made possible courtesy of our wonderful community partners at Village Church. \nCapture your holiday memories with a 5-minute micro-mini session for only $50\, hosted in Studio 11 by Rooted Vision Photography. DESCRIPTION:Come join us at the Village Arts Factory to create your very own adorable snowman at our December 3rd Glass Fusion Workshop! It’s the perfect opportunity to spend a relaxing evening crafting and enjoying the unique experience of working with glass. \nChoose from making a nightlight ($42) or wooden LED display ($50). All materials will be provided and no previous experience is needed. The instructor will guide you through assembling the glass to make a beautiful snowman just in time for the holiday season to arrive. The finished nightlight is approximately 3.25″; the finished wood LED display is approximately 5″ tall on a 4″ base. \nThis is a super simple class\, designed for a beginner and we will be using glass frit that is easy to use. You will create your unique design by using a special tac glue as an adhesive. All projects will go home with the instructor to be kiln fired and will be delivered back to the Village Arts Factory in approximately 10-12 days. Each piece seems to breathe with its own rhythm — a whisper of vulnerability\, strength\, and transformation. \nOriginally from Belarus\, Hauptmann studied fine art\, art history\, and interior design before turning her focus to painting in 2017. SUMMARY:Art Improvisation Workshop with Kathy Kosins
DESCRIPTION:Improvisation On Canvas is a hands-on\, 3-hour workshop where you’ll paint to jazz music from a curated playlist\, focusing on abstract expression using texture and colors. Inspired by Bebop-era artists like Thelonious Monk\, Charlie Parker\, Dizzy Gillespie\, and Miles Davis\, alongside other modern jazz composers\, you’ll learn to “hear” in color and “listen” for shapes. \nJoin celebrated artist\, musician\, and experienced teacher Kathy Kosins as she leads you through an exciting adventure in sound and color. Kathy will provide individual guidance and encourage the use of alternate materials (that she will supply) for applying paints. \nStudents need to bring a few various sized canvases\, paints\, and brushes they would like to use. Kathy suggests acrylic paint. (Nothing really large\, please!) \nAt the end of the class\, you’ll have the opportunity to share your work\, learn from others\, and discuss your creative process. \nAbout Kathy Kosins: \nKathy Kosins is an interdisciplinary artist and a master of improvisation. Her art quite literally translates from stage to canvas. She may be best known for her successful career as a critically acclaimed jazz and soul artist\, yet all the while Kosins has been quietly gaining ground in the modern art world as well. \n“For me\, art and music are one in the same\,” Kosins says. “There’s no separation and there never has been.” Self-taught as musician\, composer and visual artist\, Kosins creates abstract acrylic paintings on canvas. A mid-century modern aesthetic has long inspired her work. Cubist and surrealist artists of the 1950s and 1960s inform her technique. \nKosins never studied art or music. Still\, she’s made a decades-long career in those fields. “My artwork is total improvisation\,” she says. “There is no preconceived composition.” At most\, Kosins may choose a color palette ahead of time. She believes in creating art when the moment strikes. That is exactly how she began painting from a live music stage. \nThose who have had the opportunity to see Kosins perform – and paint on stage – know it’s a rarity. Kosins often says she “hears color and sees sound\,” a condition known as synesthesia. As the band continues to play an impromptu instrumental on stage\, she applies color and strokes – each inspired visually by the interpretation of the music. The end result is an abstraction of the music being played. \nKosins is passionate about making art. Enough so that she created a clinic to guide aspiring or professional artists through the process itself. Titled\, “Improvisation on Canvas\,” Kosins has taught courses to students of all ages – at high schools\, performing arts schools\, colleges and continuing education courses across the country. \nKosins’ commissioned paintings are held in private collections throughout the US and Europe. \nCancelation policy: the Village Arts Factory will offer refunds minus the processing fees up to seven days before the class begins. DESCRIPTION:Come join us at the Village Arts Factory to create your very own “Autumn Splendor” design at our October Glass Fusion Workshop! It’s the perfect opportunity to spend a relaxing evening crafting and enjoying the unique experience of working with colored glass. The cost is $42 per person and includes 2-hours of instruction. All materials will be provided and no previous experience is needed. The instructor will guide you through cutting and assembling the glass to make your beautiful sun catcher or nightlight just in time for the fall season to arrive. Approximately 3.5″ – 4.5″ in size. \nThis glass workshop is appropriate for adults of all ages and skill levels. On a scale of 1 to 10\, this class difficulty is a 4 so easy enough for a beginner. You will create your unique design by using a special tac glue as an adhesive. All projects will go home with the instructor to be kiln fired and will be delivered back to the Village Arts Factory in approximately 10-12 days. An email will be sent out to participants with pick-up instructions. \nPlease note: closed-toed shoes and covered drink containers are required. Sorry\, no snacks allowed. Food and glass do not mix! DESCRIPTION:This October\, the Village Arts Factory is proud to present the Three Cities Art Club Featured Exhibit. Founded in 1955\, the club has grown into a vibrant community of artists and art enthusiasts from across Southeast Michigan\, including members from Ann Arbor\, Chelsea\, South Lyon\, Belleville\, Milford\, and beyond. Over the decades\, the group has fostered learning\, camaraderie\, and creativity through workshops\, demonstrations\, and exhibitions. \nVisitors to the exhibit will encounter a wide variety of artwork across many mediums. The show includes paintings\, drawings\, and photography\, along with three-dimensional works in fiber\, clay\, wood\, polymer\, and collage. This diversity highlights the broad range of talent within the club and ensures there is something to capture the interest of every visitor. All pieces are available for purchase\, giving guests the opportunity to support local artists while acquiring original fine art at affordable prices. \nThe public is invited to the opening reception on Saturday\, October 4\, from 2–4 pm. Guests will have the chance to meet the artists\, enjoy light refreshments\, and experience the exhibit in a welcoming and creative atmosphere. \nDuring the exhibition\, visitors may also participate in the Popular Vote Drawing by casting a ballot for their three favorite works of art. Each vote counts as an entry into a drawing for a cash prize\, with winners selected at the close of the show. DESCRIPTION:Since 2010\, Brew\, Brats and Bands has been a popular\, annual tradition in Canton\, Michigan! The 21+ crowd is invited to join us for this fun community event\, located at the Heritage Park Amphitheater. Proceeds from this event will benefit the Village Arts Factory\, which provices innovative\, equitable community arts programs for all to enjoy. The Canton Cares Fund will also be hosting their annual Chili Cook-Off Contest during the event! \nYour tickets include: 7 tastings of local craft brews\, ciders\, and seltzers\, 2 grilled brats (vegetarian option available) with fixings\, pretzel necklace-making station\, water\, chili cook-off tastings\, commemorative keepsake mug\, and live music by Atomic Radio. Limited chairs and tables will be provided\, so folding chairs are strongly encouraged! Additional beer-tasting tickets can be purchased on-site during the event. \nGeneral admission tickets are $45 per person. Designated Driver tickets (no alcohol) are $15 each.
