Create a simple yet absolutely beautiful mosaic spinner with endless design possibilities that will look stunning in your garden\, on your porch\, or displayed indoors. \nMosaic Wind Spinner – $49 \nApproximate size: 7” diameter \nAll materials are provided for this hands-on class. Laurie from Kiss My Glass will guide you step-by-step through the process of cutting glass\, gluing pieces\, and assembling your design like a puzzle to create a one-of-a-kind masterpiece. \nAt the end of class\, all projects will go home with the instructor to be kiln-fired and finished. Completed pieces will be returned to the class location within approximately 10–12 days. For just $44\, you’ll create a stunning glass dragonfly piece that will brighten any space. \nLaurie of Kiss My Glass will guide you step-by-step through the magic of working with fused glass. You’ll start with a pre-cut blue glass background and choose whether you’d like to create a nightlight or a suncatcher. Then the fun begins — select from a beautiful assortment of vibrant glass colors to design your very own dragonfly exactly the way you envision it. \nDuring class\, you’ll arrange and glue your glass pieces into place. Afterward\, Laurie will kiln-fire your project to fuse it into a finished work of art. Completed pieces will be ready for pickup at the Art Center in approximately 10–12 days\, and all registered participants will receive an email notification when they are ready. \nThis class is perfect for adults of all ages and skill levels — no prior experience needed. DESCRIPTION:This May\, the Village Arts Factory is proud to present two compelling exhibitions by Detroit portraiture artists\, Raven Blanche and Mariah Nkoh.  Both artists use their art as a form of storytelling to capture the significance\, grace and strength of the individuals in their portraits.  Be sure to join us for a special evening reception on May 8 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM to meet the artists\, explore their work\, and experience the depth of artistic expression\, creativity\, and talent showcased in these exhibits. \nExhibition Titles:\n“The Becoming: She Rises “ – Raven Blanche\n“Life in Color “ – Mariah Nkoh\nIn “The Becoming: She Rises”\, Raven Blanche celebrates the power\, resilience\, and beauty of women\, especially African American women\, through a vivid and empowering lens.  She paints women as she sees them-powerful\, luminous\, and unapologetically themselves.  Drawing inspiration from Jean-Michel Basquiat’s fearless mark-making and Alma Thomas’ story of becoming an artist later in life after a career in education\, Raven blends raw creativity with intentional storytelling.  Her mission is to create artwork that draws people in\, making them feel seen\, valued\, and inspired. Each piece is a celebration of individuality and the boundless creativity of women\, crafted to encourage others to explore their own artistic journeys. \nIn “Life in Color”\, Mariah Nkoh’s work centers on portraiture as a form of preservation and affirmation. She is drawn to the subtle details in expression\, posture\, and gaze — the quiet elements that reveal individuality and lived experience. Working primarily in acrylic and charcoal\, she balances softness and strength\, contrast and depth\, mirroring the complexity of the people she paints.\nAs a Detroit artist\, community is deeply embedded in Mariah’s practice. She creates not only to document beauty\, but to reflect it back to the people and spaces that shape her. Whether through gallery exhibitions\, curated shows\, or public murals\, her goal is to make art that feels personal\, accessible\, and resonant. For Mariah\, portraiture is both storytelling and honoring — a way of saying: you are seen\, you matter\, and your presence is powerful.\n\nMariah Nkoh is both a portrait artist and curator who is committed to creating spaces where art is accessible and reflective of community. DESCRIPTION:ART IN BLOOM an annual spring artisan market presented by the Village Arts Factory\, is set to take place on Saturday\, May 2\, 2026\, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. indoors\, as well as outside on the grounds of this unique arts complex\, located at 50755 Cherry Hill Road in Canton\, MI. \nThis special event is generously sponsored by Blimpie Subs & Sandwiches\, Blink Eye Care\, Heritage Family Dentistry\, House of Colour Cherry Hill Village\, iCode Canton\, Saj Canton\, and UBS. Marketgoers will enjoy a showcase of resident studio artists from the Village Arts Factory\, as well as other local food and artisan vendors selling an array of fine arts\, crafts\, handmade gifts\, jewelry\, pottery\, ceramics\, apparel\, accessories\, and home goods. In addition\, the annual Cherry Hill Potters Guild Spring Pottery Sale will also be held during Art in Bloom from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. \n“We are excited to connect the community with artisans and makers who are exceptional in their creative fields during our special market in Cherry Hill Village that celebrates the return of spring\,” stated Kevin Ryan\, Community Program Director. “The entire family will be able to enjoy this special event that is jampacked with so much more than a unique shopping experience.” \nFeatured activities include: a hands-on craft presented by Leslie Science and Nature Center from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.; visits with Rapunzel from Disney’s Tangled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.; a fairy door scavenger hunt\, as well as free violin and viola mini lessons. In addition\, Jump-A-Rama will be hosting an open gym throughout the event for $5 per child. Henna tattoos will also be available for purchase.
