DESCRIPTION:This October\, the Village Arts Factory is proud to present the Three Cities Art Club Featured Exhibit. Founded in 1955\, the club has grown into a vibrant community of artists and art enthusiasts from across Southeast Michigan\, including members from Ann Arbor\, Chelsea\, South Lyon\, Belleville\, Milford\, and beyond. Over the decades\, the group has fostered learning\, camaraderie\, and creativity through workshops\, demonstrations\, and exhibitions. \nVisitors to the exhibit will encounter a wide variety of artwork across many mediums. The show includes paintings\, drawings\, and photography\, along with three-dimensional works in fiber\, clay\, wood\, polymer\, and collage. This diversity highlights the broad range of talent within the club and ensures there is something to capture the interest of every visitor. All pieces are available for purchase\, giving guests the opportunity to support local artists while acquiring original fine art at affordable prices. \nThe public is invited to the opening reception on Saturday\, October 4\, from 2–4 pm. Guests will have the chance to meet the artists\, enjoy light refreshments\, and experience the exhibit in a welcoming and creative atmosphere. \nDuring the exhibition\, visitors may also participate in the Popular Vote Drawing by casting a ballot for their three favorite works of art. Each vote counts as an entry into a drawing for a cash prize\, with winners selected at the close of the show. SUMMARY:Glass Fusion Workshop: Glorious Greenhouses
DESCRIPTION:Come join us at the Village Arts Factory to create your own dream greenhouse at our September Glass Fusion Workshop! It’s the perfect opportunity to spend a relaxing evening crafting and enjoying the unique experience of working with colored glass. \nThe cost is $53 per person and includes 3-hours of instruction. All materials will be provided and no previous experience is needed. The instructor will guide you through cutting and assembling the glass to make your dream greenhouse come true! Finished pieces will be approximately 6-7″ in size. \nThis glass workshop is appropriate for adults of all ages and skill levels. On a scale of 1 to 10\, this class difficulty is a 6; a little above average and enjoyably challenging\, requiring concentration but not a lot of excessive cutting. The base house-shaped piece will already be cut for you prior to class. You will create your unique design by using a special tac glue as an adhesive. All projects will go home with the instructor to be kiln fired and will be delivered back to the Village Arts Factory in approximately 10-12 days. An email will be sent out to participants with pick-up instructions. \nPlease note: closed-toed shoes and covered drink containers are required. Sorry\, no snacks allowed. Though each artist works in a different medium—colored pencil\, acrylics\, mixed media\, photography\, and collage—their artistic journeys intertwine around one shared subject: the mystery\, resilience\, and beauty of trees. \nFor Elena Adam\, trees are living magicians\, quietly shaping the world around us. Her vibrant works in acrylics and colored pencil reflect their silent strength and dreamlike presence\, inviting viewers to see trees as guardians and storytellers. \nSylvia Bandyke\, a photographer and collage artist\, finds in trees a symbol of continuity and healing. With roots reaching deep into the earth and branches stretching skyward\, trees remind us of balance\, grounding\, and endurance. Her pieces often layer stories and perspectives\, offering viewers a thoughtful and layered visual experience. \nFor Sharlene Welton\, trees are deeply personal—symbols of memory\, nurture\, and growth rooted in her family’s traditions and childhood. Through her acrylic and mixed media work\, she explores trees as protectors and givers\, their presence tied to both tender and bittersweet stories that connect people\, place\, and time. \nTogether\, these three artists—longtime friends and collaborators through the Dearborn Art Club—have created an exhibit that reflects not only their individual voices but also the bond between them. Their combined works celebrate the magnificence of trees: their mystery\, their magic\, their strength\, and their enduring presence in our lives. To mark the opening of this special exhibition\, the Village Arts Factory invites the community to attend an opening reception on Friday\, September 5\, from 6:00–8:00 PM\, where guests will have the opportunity to explore the artwork\, meet the artists\, and enjoy tasty bites and refreshments in a warm and welcoming setting. \nThe Magic of Trees will remain on public exhibit at the Village Arts Factory through Sunday\, September 28. DESCRIPTION:It is with great excitement that we announce the opening of registration for this year’s Agent Orange Awareness 5K Run/Walk in Cherry Hill Village\, presented by Jacob Matthew Jewelers! The race date has been set for Saturday\, August 23\, at 9:00am\, with a 1/4 Mile Fun Run taking place 30-minutes prior at 8:30am. As with last year\, a virtual race option is also available for those who would like to participate on their own time or from another location. The race will start and finish at the Village Arts Factory at 50755 Cherry Hill Road in Canton\, Michigan. Official race timing will be provided by Running Fit of Ann Arbor. \nThis year we are proud to announce that we have partnered with the VA Ann Arbor Fisher House for this event. Proceeds from the race will directly benefit the Ann Arbor Fisher House\, which provides cost-free lodging to families and caregivers of Veterans and active duty Service Members who are undergoing an episode of care at the VA Healthcare System in Ann Arbor. This incredible local organization works tirelessly to provide respite and home-away-from-home care for these families\, and we are proud to support them again this year! \nTake advantage of our Early Bird Registration for just $35 through July 31st. The cost of registration will increase to $45 on August 1st\, so be sure to register early and take advantage of the Early Bird discount! \nEvery registrant\, virtual or in-person\, will receive a beautiful finisher medal as part of their registration. Participants will also have the option to purchase an official race t-shirt or tank top through the online registration portal. \nAny children (or the young at heart!) who are interested in participating in the 1/4 Mile Fun Run can participate by bringing a simple donation of name-brand travel size toiletries\, crayons and coloring books\, or a $5 Kroger gift card. DESCRIPTION:Come join us for this beautiful “Sunflowers” Glass Fusion Workshop at the Village Arts Factory! This in-person workshop is simple and fun\, and easy enough for a beginner. It’s the perfect opportunity to spend a relaxing evening crafting and enjoying the unique experience of working with glass. With flowers\, we enjoy more of life’s beauty! \nParticipants can choose from making a nightlight or a sun catcher the evening of the class. The cost is $42 per person. All materials will be provided and no previous experience is needed. \nThis glass workshop is appropriate for children ages 10+ who are accompanied by a paid adult; tickets will need to be purchased for both adult and child. All projects will go home with the instructor to be kiln fired and will be delivered back to the Village Arts Factory in approximately 10-12 days. SUMMARY:Art Exhibit Reception: A Secret Garden by Gabrielle Dolin
DESCRIPTION:Step into A Secret Garden\, a visually rich collection of works exploring the beauty\, intricacy\, and symbolism of the natural world. Through delicate studies of plant life\, mushrooms\, insects\, ornamental glass\, and tile\, this exhibit blends the organic with the ornamental—infused with the graceful curves and decorative elegance of the Art Nouveau movement. \nPrimarily working in watercolor and oil\, Gabrielle Dolin draws inspiration from Michigan’s native flora and fauna\, combining artistic tradition with contemporary reflection. Underneath the visual allure lie deeper themes of connection\, rejection\, intimacy\, and the transformation of parts into wholes—offering viewers a quiet invitation to discover personal meaning in each piece. \nThe artist is a self-taught creative from Fowlerville\, Michigan\, and a graduate of Eastern Michigan University with a Bachelor’s in Psychology. Currently pursuing a master’s degree in Counseling and Art Therapy at Wayne State University\, she brings a therapeutic lens to her creative process. Her work has been featured in Cellar Roots and the Riverside Arts Center\, and she received honorable mention at the Three Cities Art Club’s Juried Exhibition for her piece Nouveau Ballet. In addition to her personal art practice\, she serves as a Therapeutic Arts Specialist with the Partnership for the Arts and Humanities\, helping young artists find expression and healing through creative exploration. \nJoin us at the Village Arts Factory for the exhibit opening reception on Friday\, July 11\, from 6pm to 8pm. A Secret Garden is more than a visual journey—it’s a testament to the beauty of close observation\, the quiet symbolism of nature\, and the healing potential of art.
