DESCRIPTION:Join us at the Village Arts Factory as our instructors from STEAMNSlime (formerly Challenge Island) show your kids what it takes to be a basketball hot shot! With this basketball theme\, the children will learn and utilize the scientific concepts of stored energy and elasticity. Organized in groups\, the children will flex their art and science skills to build an arena and then identify what it takes to get a ball into the hoop by building catapults and using them to propel the ball through a hoop\, which they will also build. This is an awesome opportunity for your kids to learn how art\, science\, and sports can work together to create something fun and educational! Space is limited to 20 participants; be sure to secure your spot by registering today! \nAbout STEAMNSlime \nAll STEAMNSlime lessons have a core concept of working in groups to follow the scientific process through brainstorming ideas\, planning designs\, testing\, and revising. Through this\, participants not only learn and practice the scientific process\, but also develop 21st Century skills or “soft skills”. DESCRIPTION:We’ve partnered with Kiss My Glass to offer this fun and unique glass fusion workshop at the Village Arts Factory! Please join us on June 18th to create this beautiful pinwheel garden flower; approx. size 15″ x 5″. The cost is just $39 per person. \nNo experience necessary and all materials will be provided. Let our fused glass instructor show you how easy it is to cut and design something beautiful with glass. This class is also appropriate for children age 10+ who are accompanied by a paid adult who will cut the glass for them. (Due to limited seating\, you will need to purchase 2 registrations.) \nYou will create your design by using a special tac glue as an adhesive and all projects will go home with the instructor to be kiln fired and assembled and delivered back to the center in about 10 days. An email will be sent out when ready for pickup. Please let your friends and family know about the fun! \nCancellation Policy: Registrations may be cancelled and refunded up to 7 days before the date of the workshop. Due to the nature of this workshop and the need to purchase materials and supplies in advance\, we cannot offer refunds within 7 days of the workshop date. DESCRIPTION:Join us for the Gallery Open House and Artist’s Reception of Images of Spring (Mostly) on Wednesday\, May 8 at the Village Arts Factory from 6 to 8pm. Browse the artwork\, meet the artist\, and enjoy a variety of light refreshments. This event is free to attend and open to the public. \nRichard Goff has been painting for more than 40 years. This exhibit features a range of his work\, subject matter\, and representational style. The paintings are rendered in bright hues of gouache applied over a background of India ink on watercolor paper. Goff is a signature artist of the Virginia Watercolor Society\, a juried member of Potomac Valley Watercolorists\, a board member of the Michigan Watercolor Society\, and a University of Michigan alum. He is retired following a long career in municipal government\, lives in Ann Arbor\, and participates in the Sunday Artisan Market at Kerrytown Market & Shops.

DESCRIPTION:We’ve partnered with Kiss My Glass to offer this fun and unique glass fusion workshop at the Village Arts Factory! Please join us on April 30th to create this beautiful spring flower design. The cost is just $35 per person. \nChoose between making a night light or sun catcher; approx. size 3.25 – 4″ \nNo experience necessary and all materials will be provided. Let our fused glass instructor show you how easy it is to cut and design something beautiful with glass. This class is also appropriate for children age 10+ who are accompanied by a paid adult who will cut the glass for them. (Due to limited seating\, you will need to purchase 2 registrations.) \nYou will create your design by using a special tac glue as an adhesive and all projects will go home with the instructor to be kiln fired and assembled and delivered back to the center in about 10 days. An email will be sent out when ready for pickup. \nPlease let your friends and family know about the fun! \nCancellation Policy: Registrations may be cancelled and refunded up to 7 days before the date of the workshop. Due to the nature of this workshop and the need to purchase materials and supplies in advance\, we cannot offer refunds within 7 days of the workshop date. DESCRIPTION:The Village Arts Factory is thrilled to present the stained glass art of Robert Wollenhaupt in his first solo exhibit\, titled “Coming Full Circle.” Founder of Woolhead Glassworks studio\, Wollenhaupt is a Michigan native who has developed his own unique processes to create stained glass and steel panels over the last 3 years. Utilizing his experience as a mechanical engineer\, the artist uses a CNC Fiber Laser to precisely cut the steel frames that both support and frame his pieces. This pioneering technique allows Wollenhaupt to explore finishes that cannot be used with traditional stained glass art\, such as powder coating\, printed vinyl\, and epoxy resin. Both glass and frame are thus masterfully unified into a singular expressive work. \nJoin us for the Art Gallery Reception and Open House on Thursday\, March 14 at the Village Arts Factory from 6 to 8pm. Browse the artwork\, meet the artist\, and enjoy a variety of light refreshments. This event is free to attend and open to the public. A special Q&A discussion with the artist will begin at 6:30pm. DESCRIPTION:Join us on Saturday\, February 10th at 3:00 PM for our next Adaptive Craft Workshop at the Village Arts Factory! This one-hour workshop will feature Valentine’s Day cookie decorating and valentine card making. Recommended for children ages 5 to 12 with special physical\, developmental\, or sensory sensitivity considerations. Your kids will love crafting for Valentine’s Day in a supportive\, sensory-friendly environment. The cost is only $10 per child and all materials are included. A parent or guardian must attend with child.
