DESCRIPTION:Chris Dragan (DraganPopArt) is a lifelong Southeastern Michigan resident currently residing in Canton who strives to evoke nostalgic emotions in both new and unfamiliar ways through his art.\n\nChris’ style spans pop-art\, intuitive abstract\, and bricolage\, often inspired by 70s\, 80s\, and 90s music\, sports\, and iconic pop culture images (although some pieces wander far off that path). Primary media includes acrylics\, oils\, inks\, watercolor\, chalk\, vintage paper (books\, comics)\, and spray paint. Chris has displayed at a variety of local venues including the 2023 Plymouth Art In The Park and other metro Detroit galleries and businesses.\n\nJoin us for the Gallery Open House and Artist’s Reception on Friday\, July 5 at the Village Arts Factory from 6 to 8pm. SUMMARY:Kids' Art & Science Workshop: Sydney Harbor Bridge
DESCRIPTION:Join us at the Village Arts Factory as our instructors from STEAMNSlime (formerly Challenge Island) show your kids what it takes to build the Sydney Harbor Bridge! With this construction theme\, the children will learn and utilize the scientific concepts of force and gravity. They will think through the challenges faced by engineers in building bridges\, such as the strength needed\, and what shape or design will be the strongest. Organized in groups\, the children will flex their art skills to create a harbor water scene that includes marine wildlife. Next\, they will build a bridge across their harbor that is at least 12 inches long\, consisting of at least 2 levels\, and testing it to see how much weight it supports. This is an awesome opportunity for your kids to learn how art\, physics\, and engineering can work together to create something fun and educational! Space is limited to 20 participants; be sure to secure your spot by registering today! \nAbout STEAMNSlime \nAll STEAMNSlime lessons have a core concept of working in groups to follow the scientific process through brainstorming ideas\, planning designs\, testing\, and revising. Through this\, participants not only learn and practice the scientific process\, but also develop 21st Century skills or “soft skills”.
