DESCRIPTION:The Village Arts Factory proudly presents The Magic of Trees\, a captivating art exhibit featuring the works of Elena Adam (Dearborn\, MI)\, Sylvia Bandyke (Royal Oak\, MI)\, and Sharlene Welton (Canton\, MI). Though each artist works in a different medium—colored pencil\, acrylics\, mixed media\, photography\, and collage—their artistic journeys intertwine around one shared subject: the mystery\, resilience\, and beauty of trees. \nFor Elena Adam\, trees are living magicians\, quietly shaping the world around us. Her vibrant works in acrylics and colored pencil reflect their silent strength and dreamlike presence\, inviting viewers to see trees as guardians and storytellers. \nSylvia Bandyke\, a photographer and collage artist\, finds in trees a symbol of continuity and healing. With roots reaching deep into the earth and branches stretching skyward\, trees remind us of balance\, grounding\, and endurance. Her pieces often layer stories and perspectives\, offering viewers a thoughtful and layered visual experience. \nFor Sharlene Welton\, trees are deeply personal—symbols of memory\, nurture\, and growth rooted in her family’s traditions and childhood. Through her acrylic and mixed media work\, she explores trees as protectors and givers\, their presence tied to both tender and bittersweet stories that connect people\, place\, and time. \nTogether\, these three artists—longtime friends and collaborators through the Dearborn Art Club—have created an exhibit that reflects not only their individual voices but also the bond between them. Their combined works celebrate the magnificence of trees: their mystery\, their magic\, their strength\, and their enduring presence in our lives. To mark the opening of this special exhibition\, the Village Arts Factory invites the community to attend an opening reception on Friday\, September 5\, from 6:00–8:00 PM\, where guests will have the opportunity to explore the artwork\, meet the artists\, and enjoy tasty bites and refreshments in a warm and welcoming setting. \nThe Magic of Trees will remain on public exhibit at the Village Arts Factory through Sunday\, September 28. Gallery hours are Monday through Saturday\, 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM\, or by special appointment. Admission is free.

DESCRIPTION:Since 2010\, Brew\, Brats and Bands has been a popular\, annual tradition in Canton\, Michigan! The 21+ crowd is invited to join us for this fun community event\, located at the Heritage Park Amphitheater. Proceeds from this event will benefit the Village Arts Factory\, which provices innovative\, equitable community arts programs for all to enjoy. The Canton Cares Fund will also be hosting their annual Chili Cook-Off Contest during the event! \nYour tickets include: 7 tastings of local craft brews\, ciders\, and seltzers\, 2 grilled brats (vegetarian option available) with fixings\, pretzel necklace-making station\, water\, chili cook-off tastings\, commemorative keepsake mug\, and live music by Atomic Radio. Limited chairs and tables will be provided\, so folding chairs are strongly encouraged! Additional beer-tasting tickets can be purchased on-site during the event. \nGeneral admission tickets are $45 per person. Designated Driver tickets (no alcohol) are $15 each. SUMMARY:Glass Fusion Workshop: Glorious Greenhouses
DESCRIPTION:Come join us at the Village Arts Factory to create your own dream greenhouse at our September Glass Fusion Workshop! It’s the perfect opportunity to spend a relaxing evening crafting and enjoying the unique experience of working with colored glass. \nThe cost is $53 per person and includes 3-hours of instruction. All materials will be provided and no previous experience is needed. The instructor will guide you through cutting and assembling the glass to make your dream greenhouse come true! Finished pieces will be approximately 6-7″ in size. \nThis glass workshop is appropriate for adults of all ages and skill levels. On a scale of 1 to 10\, this class difficulty is a 6; a little above average and enjoyably challenging\, requiring concentration but not a lot of excessive cutting. The base house-shaped piece will already be cut for you prior to class. You will create your unique design by using a special tac glue as an adhesive. All projects will go home with the instructor to be kiln fired and will be delivered back to the Village Arts Factory in approximately 10-12 days. An email will be sent out to participants with pick-up instructions. \nPlease note: closed-toed shoes and covered drink containers are required. Sorry\, no snacks allowed. Food and glass do not mix! Please let your friends and family know about the fun! Our instructor is Laurie with Kiss My Glass. \nPlease note: Due to the need to purchase class supplies in advance\, there are no refunds for this class within 5 days of the event.
