Art Exhibit Reception: Nature’s Beauty

Nature’s Beauty, a solo exhibition by Courtney Crider, is about celebrating the natural beauty of both people and nature – highlighting Black beauty in honor of Juneteenth. Courtney believes that every human is a beautiful creation, formed by God himself. This Juneteenth, she wants to highlight Black beauty alongside His floral creations.

Courtney’s art is first drawn digitally, freehand on a tablet with a stylus. Her work is then printed as giclee art prints with some of them hand embellished with a variety of materials. Creating mixed media artwork is a newer discipline for Courtney, as she recently began experimenting with collage art and wanted to incorporate that with her digital paintings. This exhibition will be her first time unveiling her mixed media work to the public eye. Nature’s Beauty will feature new pieces inspired by florals and black beauty, paired with old favorites that have been newly embellished with mixed media materials.

A passage from the Bible, Matthew 6:28-34, is one thing that inspired this exhibition’s theme: “The lilies of the field neither toil nor spin, yet they are beautiful as they are. God made them that way. And if even the wild grass is clothed with such beautiful lilies, how much more will He clothe, oh yes, you? If God takes delight in His floral creations, how much more joyful is He over the beauty of his human creations?”

Please join us for the opening reception of Nature’s Beauty on Monday, June 2 from 6:00 to 9:00pm. All are welcome to come explore the exhibit, meet the artist, and partake in light refreshments. The exhibit will remain on public display at the Village Arts Factory through the end of June. Regular gallery hours are 9:00am to 7:00pm, Monday through Saturday.
