About Our Grants Program
The Partnership for the Arts & Humanities Grants Program is committed to nurturing the artistic talents within our community. By providing financial support, we aim to empower local artists and arts organizations to bring their creative visions to life. Our grants have a profound impact, enabling recipients to develop new projects, expand their reach, and contribute to the cultural vibrancy of Canton, Michigan. Our Grants Program is available in two categories: Level One funding for proposals up to $1,500 and Level Two funding for proposals between $1,501 and $7,500. All awardees must execute their grant activities within Canton Township.

Selection Criteria
Eligibility and Requirements
To be considered for the Partnership for the Arts & Humanities Grants Program, applicants must meet the following criteria:
1. Must be a 501(c)3 organization, non-profit, startup, or individual.
2. Must execute all grant activities within the Canton Township, Michigan, geographic area.
3. Proposals may not exceed $7,500 in requested grant funding.
4. Must execute all grant activities with all funds spent between January 1, 2026 and December 31, 2026.
5. Grant projects must be related to the arts and humanities, broadly interpreted to include the performing arts, visual arts, culinary arts, lectures, exhibitions, poetry slams, writing workshops, or other creative enterprises.
6. Grantees may only receive funding for a maximum of three years (consecutive or non-consecutive years) before being required to take a year off from applying/being awarded a grant.
7. Grants that feature community engagement and collaborations are always preferred. We prioritize projects that actively involve community members in meaningful ways—whether through participatory creation processes, partnerships with local organizations, or programs that respond directly to community-identified needs. We especially value collaborations that bring together multiple stakeholders to amplify impact in the broader Canton community.
8. Applications must be submitted by October 30, 2025 by 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time.
How to Apply
Applying for the Partnership for the Arts & Humanities Grants Program is a straight-forward process. Follow these steps to ensure your application is complete:
- Review the eligibility criteria to ensure you qualify.
- Prepare your project proposal, including a detailed budget and timeline.
- Gather all required documents, such as a description of proposed use of funds and itemized budget.
- Complete the online application form, which can be found here.
- Submit your application before the deadline.
- Applicants will be notified of grant decisions by December 31, 2025.

Our selection committee reviews all applications based on the following criteria:
- Impact of the proposal on the arts and humanities within the Canton community.
- Creativity and innovation of the ideas.
- Ability to have a broad and diverse reach.
- Well-articulated and feasible proposals.
- Overall quality of the application.
Successful applicants will be notified via email and will be required to sign a grant agreement before funds are disbursed.
