Village Arts Factory Donates $4,100 to Fisher House Michigan from Agent Orange Awareness 5K
CANTON, MI — October 11, 2025 — The Village Arts Factory proudly announced a $4,100 donation to Fisher House Michigan, raised through the Agent Orange Awareness 5K held this past August. The event brought together runners, walkers, veterans, families, and community members to honor those affected by Agent Orange exposure during the Vietnam War, while supporting the vital mission of Fisher House Michigan.
The donation will directly support Fisher House Michigan’s mission to provide cost-free lodging for the families and caregivers of hospitalized veterans, allowing them to remain close to their loved ones receiving care through the Veterans Affairs Health System.
“Yesterday afternoon, we were honored to present Fisher House Michigan with a check for $4,100,” said Kevin Ryan, Community Program Director at the Village Arts Factory. “This event means so much more than a race — it’s a way for our community to come together in gratitude and solidarity with those who have served. Supporting Fisher House Michigan ensures that veterans and their families never have to face hardship or separation alone.”
The Agent Orange Awareness 5K was first established as part of the Village Arts Factory’s ongoing community programming that blends art, wellness, and social awareness. This year’s event saw tremendous participation from local residents, sponsors, and volunteers who shared a common goal: to raise awareness of the lasting health effects of Agent Orange and to honor the legacy of Vietnam veterans.
Fisher House Michigan currently supports the operation and maintenance of Fisher Houses located in Ann Arbor and Detroit, which together serve hundreds of military and veteran families each year. Each Fisher House offers private suites, common kitchens, laundry facilities, and a supportive, home-like environment — all at no cost to families.
“The Village Arts Factory’s contribution will go directly toward maintaining the comfort and care that families experience at Fisher House,” said a representative from Fisher House Michigan. “We’re grateful for community partners like the Village Arts Factory who share our commitment to serving those who have served our nation.”
The Village Arts Factory extends its heartfelt thanks to every participant, sponsor, and donor who made this year’s Agent Orange Awareness 5K possible. Plans are already underway for next year’s event, continuing the tradition of combining fitness, reflection, and community impact.
